Assessment

“Effective assessment:
Benefits students
Involves students
Supports teaching and learning goals
Is planned and communicated
Is suited to the purpose
Is valid and fair” New Zealand Curriculum (2007)

At Onerahi School assessment is ongoing, provides information for learning and teaching and is tailored to the needs of each learner.  Teachers analyse and interpret a wide range of evidence to get information about student progress and share this information with students and whanau so that further learning happens.  Students are actively involved in driving their assessment and their learning. Goals are identified with students in a culture of learning and progress.  Assessment involves students and teachers, parents, family and whanau, Strategic Leaders, Board of Trustees, and the Ministry of Education.
